Make me Relevant 🐣

How are we going to find meaning as this cognitive collapse starts to happen?

You want to work hard. You’ve got agency.

But how do you actually become useful?

I’m about to be a parent, with a model in pre-training for 8 months arriving in a few days. I keep coming back to this:

How should we be encouraging future-relevant humans?

I think the answer is to think entrepreneurially, reaffirmed by a Peter H. Diamandis tweet today.

If you look at the arc of work, everyone was basically an entrepreneur.

Going back around 2,700 years, we found relevance by exchanging skills. Hunting and gathering, basket weaving, livestock rearing. You created value and traded it.

Then things evolved. Industrialization kicked in. Work got centralized. We developed specialized skills and worked on one thing for one organization.

Clean. Stable. Predictable.

With the OnSet of cognitive collapse, that model breaks.

If you think entrepreneurially, work becomes something you plug into, not something you sit inside.

You should be able to work when you want, how you want, because leverage is no longer just effort.

It’s cognition plus agency.

Every career becomes entrepreneurial. You can hold multiple roles and pursuits. You OnBoard in minutes. You switch On in hours.

Everyone goes back to being an entrepreneur.

In that world, some will oversee just themselves and their army of agents.

Others will oversee teams of humans and fleets of agents.

Peter Diamandis shared a simple hack to try with your kids:

Open your favorite AI model and say:

If you’re a parent, encourage your kids to think entrepreneurially. These are my passions. What company could I start?

Not because it will hand you the answer.

But because it forces you to think like someone who creates value.

And that’s probably the safest form of relevance going forward.
